Der Fuchs und die Katze auf Englisch

Hier haben wir das Märchen Der Fuchs und die Katze von den Brüdern Grimm auf Englisch nacherzählt.

The Fox and the Cat is an animal tale by the Brothers Grimm.
We’ve retold the story here in a way that’s easy for children to understand.

The Fox and the Cat

One day, the Cat was walking through the forest and met Mr. Fox.

The Cat thought, “Mr. Fox is very clever and knows a lot about the world.” So she greeted him politely.
“Good day, Mr. Fox,” she said. “How are you today?”

Der Fuchs und die Katze Fabel Text

The Fox looked down at the Cat and gave her a proud and unfriendly look. He thought about whether she even deserved a reply. Finally, he said, “You poor little furball, you hungry mouse-chaser — how dare you talk to me and ask how I’m doing?”

“What can you do anyway?” he continued. “Tell me, what talents do you have?”

“I only have one talent,” the Cat said humbly.

“And what is that?” asked the Fox.

“I’m good at jumping,” said the Cat. “When dogs chase me, I can leap into a tree and stay safe.”

“That’s it?” said the Fox. “I know a hundred tricks! I can run fast, dig deep holes, and do many clever things. I even know how to fool others! You poor Cat — come with me, and I’ll teach you a few real skills.”

But just then, a hunter came walking by with four big dogs.

The Cat jumped into a tree in a flash and was safe.

But the Fox didn’t know what to do. Should he run? Should he dig a hole and hide? While he was still thinking, the dogs caught him.

Fabel Katze und Fuchs

From the tree, the Cat called down, “Oh Mr. Fox, what good are your hundred tricks now? If you could jump like me, you would still be alive!”

The moral of this story

As is also known from fables, there is a moral in this fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm:

It is better to have a single solution that can be applied quickly and easily than hundreds of options that cannot be implemented quickly enough in a dangerous situation.
